LeRoy F. Sullivan,“ Junior”, age 100 years and 7 months of Hillman, MN passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a short stay at the Pierz Villa on February 24, 2026 due to complications after having hip surgery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Bulldog Lake, MN with Father Elias Gieske officiating. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 A.M. on Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Bulldog Lake. Military Honors will be conducted by the Hillman American Legion Post #602. Caring for LeRoy and his family is the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN. LeRoy was born in Brainerd, MN on July 10, 1925, to the late William Sullivan and Florence (Benjamin) Sullivan. He grew up and attended country school in Richardson Township in Morrison County and one year of high school in Onamia, MN. LeRoy lived his entire life in the Sullivan Lake area with the exception of serving two years in the U.S. Army during the WWII era. He was united in marriage to Irene (Virnig) at Holy Family Church, Bulldog Lake, MN on April 16, 1949. They were married for almost 77 years and together they raised 10 children (8 boys, 2 girls). LeRoy was a dairy farmer in Pulaski Township in Morrison County for many years. He also worked as a carpenter off and on during his farming career. Farming and raising his children left little time for hobbies. He and Irene moved back to his childhood farm in Richardson Township after he retired from farming in the fall of 1983. On his century farm, is where he resided until his death. At age 50, with the support of his family, he was baptized and became a member of Holy Family Church. He faithfully attended mass and volunteered at church functions. For many years, well into his 80’s, he maintained the church grounds during the summer months. He enjoyed going to auctions with his buddies, and every year he looked forward to going to threshing shows with his sons. He had a soft spot for his 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee tractor. LeRoy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and an example of Christian values, including honesty, integrity, and responsibility. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. There was no one who could talk more or remember details to a story better than he could. LeRoy is survived by his loving wife, Irene; sons, Brian (Carol) Sullivan of Ramsey, MN, David (Karen) Sullivan of Andover, MN, Dan (Connie) Sullivan of Pierz, MN, Dennis (Laura) Sullivan of St. Joseph, MN, Doug (Vickie) Sullivan of Hillman, MN, Randy (Heidi) Sullivan of Little Falls, MN, Gerard Sullivan of Hillman, MN, and Dean (Shari) Sullivan of Harding, MN; daughters, Maureen (Jerry) Van Keuren of Pierz, MN, and Marge (Bill) Gingery of Onamia, MN.; 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Florence Sullivan; brothers, Westley Sullivan, and Bill Sullivan; sisters, Bernice McBride, Willodee Warrington, and Reva Herring; daughter-in-law, Michalene Sullivan; grandsons, Cody Sullivan and Robert Van Keuren; great-grandson, Everett Hustad. His family would like to thank the Mille Lacs Health Home Care System for all the years of caring for him, which enabled him to stay in his home until his passing.
